Our client had an old, small hatch in to their loft area which was difficult to access and restricted what items could be stored in the loft space. The loft had been insulated and lined with boards so was a potentially valuable space. We removed the old hatch and the frame and cut the ceiling joists to accommodate the new hatch. The joists were strengthened and the new hatch fitted, along with modifying the loft boards to provide a neat finish and and conceal the insulation. The landing ceiling was finished off with a timber moulding and is ready for painting.

The ladder folds simply to provide a sturdy access port to facilitate the easy use of the loft space, also increasing the size of items from 400mm x 400mm to 1200mm x 600mm.
